TEI Kicks off 2013 with Eleven Films for Eli Lilly
Happy New Year! Our crews are flying across the country for a series of field shoots for eleven client films for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. We will be stretching our storytelling muscles. Some of these films will be documentary-style, others commercial, and some graphics-driven. One will be comic book driven. (Pow! Bang! Punch!) All will screen during an upcoming four-day sales meeting for the Oncology division.
“I love challenges like this,” said director Scott Takeda. “Between the eleven pieces, we have just about every kind of visual storytelling possible. I think the one I’m most excited for is the cartoon-style animation that we’ll be doing for one of the Day One meeting modules. We won’t have time to do traditional, hand-drawn animation, so we’ll give it some 21st Century boost. And I’m also very excited to be shooting some stylized commercial images in a studio-setting for the closing film.”
Leading the creative team is agency executive producer Damon Schoening from BI Worldwide in Indianapolis, Indiana. Assisting him are creative director Tom Nusbaum, Laura Cohen (producer), Kathryn Miller (producer) and Frank Durrett (music coordinator/audio producer). The rest of the team includes Takeda (director/casting director), Lori Kay Allred (associate producer/AD) Dave Klein (cinematographer – Denver), Dave Dawson (cinematographer – Atlanta & Florida), Slade Williamson (field audio), Rhonda Montera (production coordinator), Jessica Chynoweth (makeup), WestWorks Studios, Brock Sherman (art director), Brandon Russell (editor), Ryan Welborn (editor), and Zlatko Makic (post audio). Audio talent courtey of Donna Baldwin Agency.
2/2/13 UPDATE - Our crews are headed to Florida to produce three quick-turn films for pharmaceutical leader Eli Lilly. The pieces will kick off an awards banquet next week.
“It’s times like these that I’m glad I have a background in TV news,” said Takeda. “News taught me how to be very fast and good. For this project, our deadlines are in less than a half week, so we’re going to have to hustle. Two of these films require full-blown animation, casting, and post-audio. And then we are producing the third piece on-site during the banquet and turning it in less than an hour. This project reminds me of doing live coverage during a breaking spot-news story. Very exciting, and no margin-for-error. We’re hanging-on for a fast ride!”
Leading the quick-turn series of films are executive producer Damon Schoening and producer Kathryn Miller of BI Worldwide out of Indianapolis, Indiana. The creative director is Tom Nusbaum. Rounding out the team are Takeda (copywriter/director), Dave Dawson (cinematographer), Brock Sherman (art director/field editor).
